1. What progress have you made this quarter in your information literacy growth?
- In my information literacy growth i really learned how to operate and use skills I've learned and applied it in this course. For example, I learned how to always check my blog, blackboard, wiki and the Master blog to keep all my assignments organized and well prepared. I learned how to really research and to search more effectively. I learned how to explore and evaluate the web by using different search engines and strategies to search effectively in the web. Also, i learned how to develop a certain topic I wanted to know more about. I used the topic to narrow my topic and make it broad as well. I used our library databases and searches and to look for a certain book or how to actually find it and its information in our own library. I learned a lot about citation and academic integrity which was very helpful. I've learned so much in this quarter that i am able to apply this to any kind of work or course.
2. What areas of weakness have you identified in your information literacy growth?
- I felt that I was weak in my topic development area only because I was confused on how to make my topic less broader and more narrower. I had to think much deeper, but it didn't really sink in like i wanted it too. I was still confused adn even till this day i still think about what i could of done to make it easier on my self as well as the assignment.
3. What steps will you take in the next three to six months to continue your growth in information literacy?
- I will actually apply all of these skills I have just learned to use in all my courses because i know i will be doing a lot of researching later and i will use the library more often then i think. I'm very happy that i didn't give up on this online class because that was my first thought, but i stuck with it and I've learned so much!

Nuclear Energy
My subject is focused on Nuclear Energy. Nuclear energy comes form energies
found in atoms, which is one of the biggest problems America is facing at this moment. Nuclear Energy is fused together by some of these, uranium, plutonium or thorium or the fusion of hydrogen into helium. It is said that Nuclear energy will be around for about 100 plus years because of the 4 to 5 percent of U-235 (uranium) that is used now a days. There are advantages and disadvantages to nuclear energy and its causes.
Some advantages that Nuclear Energy has is the U.S has limited supplies of coal and oil yet, nuclear power plants can still give off energy even if we run out of oil and coal. One ton of uranium makes more energy than is produced by several million tons of coal or several million barrels of oil. This saves us coal and oil because of how much energy is supplied by power plants. Coal and oil pollutes the air, but nuclear power plants that are well operated do not release contaminants into the environment. With these advantages there must be disadvantages that could cause a crisis.
The disadvantages of having nuclear energy anywhere is that maybe a war could break out and the U.S is one of the most powerful nations that hold nuclear weapons along with Russia. If any weapons or anything was to go wrong and explode the radiation within the weapons will be released and it could kill us. Nuclear waste also could release radiation through nuclear reactor disposable problems. In nuclear energy, the advantages and disadvantages help us formulate opinions on what we should do about it whether we should stop power plants or let it be?
In my opinion I believe that Nuclear energy has been around for many years and people are confused on what we should do, but i believe the best thing we should do is to let the power plants do their job as well as letting those who operate it do theirs. either way we will still be losing something. I say this because if we take away the power plants and all the above we cannot survive for that long. We need energy and electricity and all it provides. If we leave it and think about the negative things it can lead us to then it will happen, we all must thing for the better of this country and ourselves. All there is is hope and with hope we can live till tomorrow or however long it takes.

Research Log Entry 1
1.Discuss how the author, the publisher, the faculty member, the library, and the students can be accommodated:
-In order to make things less complicated and more affordable for everyone, including the people who want to make a profit there must be some kind of negotiation. The author of book is still planning on publishing 1000 copies, but maybe he/she is not quite sure how much to publish, yet if the less copies are published the less it could cost and he/she can still make a profit not too far from the first thought. The publisher will be makin profits off of how much the author writes and and makes copies so however that goes he will still be making something. The faculty member is only sure of making use of it by really seeing if its required to use the book or parts of it and if so to really make a class set instead of having individuals pay a large amount of money to use some parts. He doesnt even have to buy the whole amount of classroom set just enough to probably share and use. The Library can acutally use some of the classroom set that some classes are using to use for the online source so if students have homeowork the students can use the internet to get through. The students will for sure use the books for each person above them is planning to use it for their purpose. If the books are important enough to use in the class and online then there is no need to buy the book.Everyone is happy!
2.How can a fair arrangement be achieved?
- A fair arrangement would be met by each individual adult who wants to save time and money, but still make profits. Everyone must take the time to understand the circumstance of the money crisis that is happening.
3.What are the challenges in creating a fair arrangement for everyone?
- The challenge of creating a fair arrangement for everyone is sometimes not everyone gets what they want or expected.

1. How can a balance be achieved between protecting privacy and meeting the needs of national security?
- The balance can be achieved by not only respecting the privacy of everone else and also by respecting the law also same goes for the needs of national security. There are standards that need to be met and if not there are good or bad consequences.
2. How did you react to the list of challenged books (were you surprised, for example)? Do you think some books should be banned or should all books be freely available? Why?
-Yes very surprised because most of those books i've read or heard about. I think books should be freely available because what is the use of it not being read? There has to be a reason as to why it was published and it should have a meaning to it.
3. How have your overall ideas about information ethics changed or not changed after completing this unit?
- After completing this unit I had an open eye view of how important privacy adn fairness can be crucial to individuals and the world. I never knew that books were ever banned, I always thought that books were published for a reason.

-I had to add a bit more information to get less results

- They had similar subjects to my search, my main search.

- I used the term “greenhouse ” under the title keyword which listed 12 titles.

- I chose "Greenhouse gas carbon dioxide mitigation"
4. What item did you eventually choose? Why?
- "Greenhouse gas carbon dioxide mitigation : science and technology" This was the item that eventually was the only on the list that explained my question about greenhouse gases. It tells me everything!

- I believe the reason why is because it once it eliminates all the other terms you don't need the type of subject you want to search for it will be narrowed down for you to choose from. I know this is a little complicated to understand i just believe that once i start with a subject and choose the kind of book it might fit into it, it can have other books that might make the searching easier to find!

-The difference between a keyword search and a subject heading search is basically the number of items it provides. In a keyword search there are more items presented that may be relevant to you search but not quite. In a subject heading search there is a major difference only because there are less items and more efficient related items to choose from. It is closer related to your subject.

In the modules i have seen the advantages I've discovered were how to actually research and find topics to evaluate and bring to life using details and actual informational facts. I could not find any disadvantages because they were all helpful.
2. How might this unit change the way you interact with search engines in the future?
I can use this unit because of the way the modules show you how to use the search engines in various ways.
