Research Log Entry 1
1.Discuss how the author, the publisher, the faculty member, the library, and the students can be accommodated:
-In order to make things less complicated and more affordable for everyone, including the people who want to make a profit there must be some kind of negotiation. The author of book is still planning on publishing 1000 copies, but maybe he/she is not quite sure how much to publish, yet if the less copies are published the less it could cost and he/she can still make a profit not too far from the first thought. The publisher will be makin profits off of how much the author writes and and makes copies so however that goes he will still be making something. The faculty member is only sure of making use of it by really seeing if its required to use the book or parts of it and if so to really make a class set instead of having individuals pay a large amount of money to use some parts. He doesnt even have to buy the whole amount of classroom set just enough to probably share and use. The Library can acutally use some of the classroom set that some classes are using to use for the online source so if students have homeowork the students can use the internet to get through. The students will for sure use the books for each person above them is planning to use it for their purpose. If the books are important enough to use in the class and online then there is no need to buy the book.Everyone is happy!


2.How can a fair arrangement be achieved?
- A fair arrangement would be met by each individual adult who wants to save time and money, but still make profits. Everyone must take the time to understand the circumstance of the money crisis that is happening.

3.What are the challenges in creating a fair arrangement for everyone?
- The challenge of creating a fair arrangement for everyone is sometimes not everyone gets what they want or expected.

1. How can a balance be achieved between protecting privacy and meeting the needs of national security?
- The balance can be achieved by not only respecting the privacy of everone else and also by respecting the law also same goes for the needs of national security. There are standards that need to be met and if not there are good or bad consequences.

2. How did you react to the list of challenged books (were you surprised, for example)? Do you think some books should be banned or should all books be freely available? Why?
-Yes very surprised because most of those books i've read or heard about. I think books should be freely available because what is the use of it not being read? There has to be a reason as to why it was published and it should have a meaning to it.

3. How have your overall ideas about information ethics changed or not changed after completing this unit?
- After completing this unit I had an open eye view of how important privacy adn fairness can be crucial to individuals and the world. I never knew that books were ever banned, I always thought that books were published for a reason.
